If you are running a business, you will probably find there are times when you need help with a question, concern or idea. To help you across various stages of your business journey, the City of Belmont promotes a range of services and information designed for local businesses.
The providers listed below offer free or low-cost services to suit the needs of small businesses.
The Small Business Development Corporation
The Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC) provides free online business advice, free webinars and free workshops to help you develop your small business skills.
Belmont Business Enterprise Centre
Belmont Business Enterprise Centre provides low-cost services to new and existing small businesses.
You can access a range of advice through their helplines, mentoring, networking, legal and accounting referrals. You can contact them for a range of low-cost services, including preparation of marketing and business plans, mentoring, staff training programs, loan and banking product advice, legal and accounting advice, webinars and online business training.

Business Foundations
The City of Belmont has partnered with Business Foundations to deliver free one-on-one advisory sessions to help manage the challenges that COVID-19 presents to businesses.
A limited number of places are available. If you are eligible, you could receive help by video conferencing and an advisor will spend an hour providing tailored advice.
Session 1 – Strategic Review
If you are eligible, your advisor will cover the following issues as they relate to your business:
- Business continuity plan
- 6 month cash-flow forecast
- Occupation health and safety for staff/employment obligations.
Session 2 – Review of cashflow and expenditure
If you are eligible, this session will cover an in-depth look at financial pressures in your business, looking to reduce the impact of COVID-19 on the bottom line.
Session 3 – Sales and Marketing Review
If you are eligible, in this session your advisor will cover:
- A review of your sales channels, and finding new opportunities
- Packaging of products in new ways (such as gift vouchers, advance booking discounts, delivery boxes)
- Identifying adjacent markets
