 Key Infrastructure

Kewdale is one of Perth’s most established and premier industrial locations housing many of the State’s leading transport, logistics and manufacturing businesses.

Here you’ll find the Kewdale Freight Terminal comprising approximately 17,000 square meters of rail yard and depots with an annual container turnover rate of approximately 330,000 units.

The ongoing success of the industrial zoned land is supported by Belmont’s Local Planning Scheme 15 which preserves large lot sizes, allows for a broad but compatible range of industrial uses and encourages a high standard of built form.

The City of Belmont is serviced by fast and direct access to all of Perth’s major arterial road networks. Perth City is only six minutes by road via the Great Eastern Highway or the Graham Farmer Freeway.

The State’s largest infrastructure project, Gateway WA, will see a $1 billion dollar investment to improve the road network and freight access on Leach Highway, Tonkin Highway and the surrounding feeder network. These upgrades will cater for increasing passenger and freight movements for the Perth airport terminal and Kewdale and Forrestfield industrial estates.

This national priority project is currently underway with the view to completion in 2017. For notices and traffic alerts refer to the Gateway WA website.

Perth Airport is the gateway to the State of Western Australia and manages Australia’s fourth highest level of passenger traffic. The international and domestic terminals connect over 13.9 million people per year on 2878 scheduled international, domestic and regional flights each week to over 50 destinations worldwide.

Located 12 kilometres from the heart of Perth, the airport is on a 2,105 hectare site. Around 1,000 hectares has been set aside for non-aviation purposes with 306 hectares preserved for conservation and almost 700 hectares available for commercial and industrial development.

The Perth Airport is undergoing rapid expansion with consolidation of the domestic and airport terminals, upgrades of the surrounding road networks such as Great Eastern Highway and the Gateway WA project and planning for the development of non-aviation land. The Perth Airport’s Master Plan 2009-2014 can be viewed at at the Perth Airport website.

National Broadband Network

Through the NBN, every Australian will have access to fast, affordable and reliable broadband. Parts of the City of Belmont already have access to the NBN. During the second half of 2015, a three year plan will be released that will outline the planned roll out for the remainder of the City. Anticipating this;

  • All new projects are encouraged to register their developments to connect to the NBN.
  • Belmont businesses are encouraged to improve their online presence, reach new markets and compete globally.

You can find out more about the NBN on NBN Co's website.
