Neighbourhood shopping

The City of Belmont features a number of local neighbourhood shopping areas. These shops are strategically located in our residential neighbourhoods to meet everyday shopping needs within a short walk from home.

Belvidere Street is the largest of these shopping areas and features a large IGA, 24-hour Medical Centre, chemist, corner pub and bistro, a number of takeaway food shops and a local post office. The plans for this shopping precinct are currently under review.

Belgravia Street is the quintessential local shopping area with a pharmacy, bakery and newsagency.

Eastgate Shopping Centre is located on the corner of Great Eastern Highway and meets the needs of the passing traffic with fast food options, a deli and local beauty services.

Epsom Street shops are conveniently situated and include a small number of commercial offices adjacent to the well stocked corner deli, chemist and other retailers.

Kooyong Road shops are anchored by a busy local IGA, quality chemist and an award winning butcher.

Love Street is a small centre with just a few shops and features an old fashioned handyman hardware store.

Each of these centres offer convenient on-street parking, an attractive streetscape where safety and security is provided by a local monitored closed circuit television service and attentive community police.

As the City looks to the future with a population expected to double, the City of Belmont looks forward to proposals that will redevelop and enhance our local shopping areas.
