The City of Belmont is committed to working with and empowering local Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) communities. In recognition of the City's growing cultural diversity, the City is committed to having an inclusive community and as such the City has developed its inaugural 'Multicultural Action Plan (MAP): Connecting, Celebrating and Growing 2016- 2018' in early 2016. The process of developing the MAP involved extensive community consultation which took place in mid-2015.
Launch of the City's Inaugural Multicultural Action Plan
The City’s Inaugural Multicultural Action Plan 2016-2018: Connecting, Celebrating & Growing was launched 17 May 2016.
The City’s first Multicultural Action Plan (MAP) has been developed to capture the needs and aspirations of the community and to reinforce Council's commitment and support for a culturally diverse and socially cohesive community.
The MAP is the first for the City of Belmont, the East Metropolitan Regional area and is one of only a few in Western Australia.
The City is grateful to the Cultural Diversity Focus Group for their contribution, as well as to community members and stakeholders for assisting with the development of this creative, contemporary, meaningful and achievable Plan.
The Plan has also been translated in the top five languages that are spoken in the City and is available online. Please see the following links:
