 State Emergency Service

The City is fortunate to have an active unit of the State Emergency Service. The volunteers are highly trained and able to assist the community to deal with the effects of a variety of natural disasters such as major storms, earthquake and floods. Assistance may be in the form of emergency repairs to buildings e.g. roof damage etc.
The volunteers skill set includes:
  • First Aid
  • Map reading and navigation
  • Land search techniques
  • Storm damage repairs
  • Marine Rescue
  • Communications
  • Abseiling and vertical rescue
  • Leadership and management
  • Logistics
  • Chainsaw operation
