The City of Belmont is proud to provide the community with FREE and LOW cost Active, Nutritious and Creative Lifestyles classes in our autumn series.

Belmont Family Challenge

Are you looking for a fun way to spend time with your family that is good for your health too?

Join accredited exercise scientist MJ Ong with your family and participate in fun challenges, obstacles and puzzles. Learn about the human body and how to keep fit and healthy while finding your daily 30. Participating families will be given a mystery word at the end of each session. Attend all four sessions and reveal your hidden message to enter the draw to win a family fun pack.

This challenge is suitable for parents/carers and children aged 8 years and over. Younger children are welcome to join in with their older siblings.

Bring/wear: Comfortable clothing, closed-in supportive footwear/sneakers, towel, drink bottle
Cost*: $20 for residents; $40 for non-residents
Venue: Miles Park
When: Saturdays 4 May to 25 May, 9:30am - 10:30am

Bike Breakfast

Cycling is a great way to enjoy the outdoors, move your body, save money and get around your local area. It is also a great way to spend time with family. To celebrate this year's Bike Week, the City of Belmont is hosting its annual Bike Breakfast. 
 
Start your morning with a cycle to Balbuk Reserve on the Swan River and join us for a free healthy breakfast. Park your bike safely with Bike Valet, come and have a chat with the team from Bike Dr and participate in some morning stretches with the team from Thrive Wellness.

Cost*: FREE 
Venue: Goodwood Parade boat ramp, Balbuk Reserve, Rivervale
When: Friday 22 March, 6:30am - 8:30am

Infants and Toddlers on Bicycles

Join Christina from People on Bicycles for a practical information and demonstration session about riding with infants and young children. Learn about the different options to carry your little passengers on your bicycle, pros and cons for a range of bike conversions, how to add additional luggage and tips to make rides a safe and joyful experience for everyone.

Venue: Ruth Faulkner Public Library

Nutritious Lifestyles




Pedal Power

Say goodbye zombie foods and hello to super foods. Come along and investigate the amount of sugar in popular drinks, and use your pedal power to make your own delicious superfood smoothies. 

Suitable for children aged 7+years.

Creative Lifestyles

Adventures in Art Therapy with Kitsiri De Silva

In this 5 week creative and expressive course, you will explore your inner world using a wide range of mediums including sculpture, body movement and drawing. Participants will benefit from learning how to use symbols to express vulnerable emotions in a healthy and safe environment.

Basic materials supplied.

Cost*:  City of Belmont residents - $90 per term
            Non-residents - $120 per term
Venue: Rivervale Community Centre (Meeting Room 3)

Watercolour Landscape Techniques with Pam Lockwood

This 6 week course is designed for beginners and those wishing to advance their painting skills. Beginners will learn how to undertake flat wash, graded wash and how to lay one wash on top of another. You will also learn how to mix your colours without creating mud. Once you've mastered these techniques you will learn how to do cloud studies, mountains, rocks, trees and then how to put these items into a landscape.

For those that have painted before you will paint from photos provided by the instructor. You are also welcome to bring your own photo. 

Basic material supplied. Suitable for all levels.

Cost*:  City of Belmont residents - $90 per term
            Non-residents - $120 per term
