The City of Belmont is proud to provide the community with FREE and LOW cost Active, Nutritious and Creative Lifestyles classes in our Autumn series.

Yoga in the Park - Series 2

Join us for a fun, dynamic yet deeply relaxing series of yoga classes. These classes are suitable for ‘every-body’, and every level from beginners to advanced. You will learn breathing exercises to steady the body and the mind, yoga poses to stretch the body and build strength and flexibility, practice meditation and mindfulness and improve your overall health and wellness to shine from the inside out!

Bring: Please bring your own mat and towel
Cost*: FREE for residents; $80 for non-residents for the season
Venue: Wilson Park sump area, Rivervale

Pram Jam - Parents walking group

Pram Jam is a walking group for parents and caregivers. The walk is a great way to get your 30 minutes of physical activity while catching up with likeminded people in the lovely Faulkner Park. The walk is self-paced and led by local volunteers. Each walk starts out the front of Ruth Faulkner Public Library.
Cost*: FREE
Venue: Meeting at Ruth Faulkner Public Library
When: Every Monday, 9.30am and 10.30am

Bike Week - 'Come Try Learn' drop in sessions

Need some information or inspiration about getting on a bike?
COME along for a chat to a bike coach and bike mechanic. TRY out the many different types and sizes of bikes available. LEARN what bike is best for you or how to set up your existing bike. There will be bikes of all different shapes and sizes to try such as electric bikes, trikes, cargo bikes, hybrid, road and mountain bikes, kids' tandem bikes and bike trailers.

Bring: Bike if you own one and wear clothing appropriate for riding a bike
Cost*: FREE

Fitness in the Park Series 3

Meet your neighbours and get fit with Fitness in the Park!
The sessions are fun, safe and open to all ages and abilities, from complete beginners through to very active.

Bring: A towel and water bottle
Cost*: FREE for residents / Non-resident $80 for 8 week season

Yoga for Kids - presented by Yoga Zoo

Yoga is a great way to introduce mindfulness to your children by helping to regulate breathing, improve self-esteem and promote a different way to get your child's physical activity levels up. Join a qualified children's yoga instructor for a special introductory session held at Ruth Faulkner Public Library.
*For children aged 5 to 10 years

Earth Hour Picnic

Celebrate Earth Hour by bringing your own picnic to Tomato Lake. Hear Lindsay Miles on actions you can take to minimise climate change impacts, followed by acoustic guitar whilst you enjoy your picnic.

Millions of people in over 180 countries take part in Earth Hour by switching off their lights from 8.30pm to 9.30pm (local time) as a symbolic gesture to show that our planet needs stronger action to climate change.

Bring: Your own picnic food and picnic rug. To support Earth Hour a low waste picnic is recommended; avoid packaging/ single use disposables , bring your own drink bottle and select locally produced and seasonal food and plant based menu.

Cost*: FREE for residents; $5 for non-residents
Venue:  Tomato Lake (Oat street side)

Creative Lifestyles


Paper, Paint and Texture 

Join WA artist Amanda Harris in this 6 week course and delve into the creative world of paper, tissue and acrylic painting.

Week 1 and 2 - Beautiful Papers

By using a variety of techniques and mediums learn how to turn ordinary papers into beautiful works of art that can be used in paintings, collage or craft projects.

Week 3 and 4 - Tissue and Acrylic Painting

Learn how to successfully combine various tissue papers with inks, acrylic paint and oil pastels to create a vibrant and colourful landscape.

Week 5 and 6 - Textured Surfaces

By using a product called impasto medium, learn how to texture your surfaces to create a painting that is rich, lush and tactile.

*Basic materials supplied. Suitable for all levels.

Cost*: City of Belmont residents - $70 per term
           Non-residents - $120 per term

 UKE 123 (Beginners Ukulele) with Shaun Chandran

Have you ever wished you could play a musical instrument? Well, now you can! Learn to play the ukulele in just 3 weeks in this fun, relaxed and engaging course designed for absolute adult beginners. No prior musical knowledge required. Learn basic chords, rhythm and strumming patterns, which will have you playing a repertoire of songs spanning the decades.
Participants have the option of bringing their own ukulele or having a brand new 'uke' as part of the course.

Cost*: Bring your own ukulele - $70
           Brand new 'uke' - $100
