The City of Belmont is proud to provide the community with FREE and LOW cost Active, Nutritious and Creative Lifestyles classes in our spring series.

Come and experience something new and exciting that Belmont has to offer!

Circuit Training Challenge

Join the team from Belgravia Leisure for an 8 week circuit training challenge incorporating the City of Belmont's new and updated outdoor equipment. Whatever your fitness levels, if you want to improve your endurance, coordination, muscle tone and/or strength, this challenge has something to suit everyone. Need some added motivation - attend all 8 sessions to go into the draw to win a Myzone - MZ3 physical activity band or FitBit.

Seniors Circuit Training Challenge
 
Aged 60 years and over?
Join our Seniors Circuit Training Challenge.

Hosted by the team at Belgravia Leisure, this 8 week challenge will incorporate the City of Belmont's new and updated outdoor exercise equipment into weekly supervised workouts. Learn how to use this equipment safely and effectively whilst exercising in the beautiful surrounds of Centenary Park. Stick around after weekly sessions for a chat and a cuppa. Attend all 8 sessions to go into the draw to win a Myzone-MZ3 physical activity band or FitBit. 

Bring/wear: Comfortable clothing, closed-in supportive footwear/sneakers, towel, drink bottle
Cost*: $15 for residents for the term; $80 for non-residents per term
Venue: Centenary Park
When: Wednesdays, 10 October to 28 November, 10am to 11am

Sleep Science - how to improve your sleep health 

Getting a good night's sleep is an essential component to our health and wellbeing, yet almost 40% of Australian adults experience inadequate sleep. Sleep affects how we look, feel and perform every day. Inefficient sleep has been linked to the development of chronic disease including Type II Diabetes, heart disease, obesity and depression. 

The good news is that there are some simple ways that you can improve the quality of your sleep and sleep behaviour. This one hour presentation will provide listeners with an engaging introduction to the science of sleep. Learn practical methods to improve your sleep and determine your adequate sleep time.

The Happiness Diet

Had a gutful of trying the latest celebrity diet or health craze, only to find you haven't lost any weight and don't feel any better?
Backed by science, Accredited Practicing Dietician Nick Nation from Nutrition Nation will walk you through the Happiness Diet. This is a diet that is tailored just for you, does not exclude food groups, and most importantly is a diet which you can easily maintain that will have you smiling from the inside out. Sound too good to be true? Come and find out for yourself.

Drawing - Beginners to Advanced

Join WA artist Shirley Winstanley in this six week course where you will learn about shape, tone and composition in drawing objects. You will also have the opportunity to explore the effects of negative space, edge and form in drawing. The skills you learn can then be applied to painting a model in the studio or 'plein air' landscape. 

*Basic materials supplied. Suitable for all levels.

Cost*: City of Belmont residents - $80 per term
          Non-residents - $120 per term

Painting with Pastels

Be inspired by award winning WA artist Val Brooks to create vibrant paintings from photos using chalk pastels. Develop simple techniques for applying colour, and use light and shade to maximise the impact of your paintings.
