SilverSport supports eligible seniors to participate in sport and active recreation. It’s based on the highly successful and awarded KidSport program for children aged 5 – 18.
SilverSport can cover costs associated with sport club memberships or physical activity program fees of up to $200 per person until 30 June 2017, subject to available funding.
Applicants can receive SilverSport for a range of sport or active recreation activities delivered by clubs, community organisations, businesses and recreation centers including, for example, masters swimming, bowls, group fitness classes, walking groups, gym memberships, yoga or Pilates.
Applicants must be 60 years or over and have a valid health care card or pensioner concession card to be eligible. A Seniors Card is not suitable.
All clubs, community organisations, recreation centres or businesses running sport and active recreation activities need to register as SilverSport providers before they can accept SilverSport applicants. SilverSport providers can register in June and a list of all approved providers will be available through your local government and the department of sport and recreation at that time.
Administered by the Department of Sport and Recreation in partnership with Local Government, the program starts on 1 July 2016 and runs to 30 June 2017 in the City of Belmont, City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder (including Shire of Coolgardie), City of Kwinana and Shire of Northam.
