 Activities for Children

In line with the direction provided by the Federal Government, the City has cancelled all regular library programs, events, workshops and activities held in the library building at this time.  

You will find online workshops, programs and activities for all ages being added to our Special Events for Adults and Special Events for Children pages during this period. 

We recommend you keep up-to-date with the City’s response to COVID-19 via this webpage and social media and the City's COVID19 #Beconnected Portal. ​



Programs may be paused,  but we're working on bringing you all kinds of exciting programs online! Check out the first of a series of online Storytimes and subscribe to our YouTube channel for more exciting content.

The Library has a fantastic range of eResouces for children and youth including a streaming services, eBooks, eAudiobooks,  eMagazines, educational games and more!

Home Based Activities with Ruth Faulkner Library


The Ruth Faulkner Library team are currently working on delivering children's programming to you in your own home. 

Watch this space for upcoming storytime videos, activities, worksheets, science experiments and educational resources for children of all ages. 

Engaging Young Minds at Home

The Ruth Faulkner Library team has collated a list of useful resources and activity ideas to engage and educate children while they are at home. We have included academic resources that link to the Australian Curriculum however the majority of activities are related to general education.

You are your child’s first teacher. In times of uncertainty, they will look to you for comfort and explanations. If you are unsure of how to discuss COVID-19 with your children we have included some resources that may assist.

Hop To It - Rewards for Beginner Readers


Beginner Readers can be rewarded for their efforts at the Library! This online reward program encourages children from five to ten years of age to hop into reading. For every ten books read children can collect online badges. Sign up to Beanstack and get started on your reading adventure!

Baby Rhyme Time

Mondays, 10am to 10:30am

Enjoy rhymes, songs and simple stories with your baby and connect with other mothers in your community. For babies and toddlers under 18 months of age. No bookings required. 

Sessions start Monday, 24 February 2020.

Parking will be available on the signed grassed area adjacent to the Library, which is accessible via Progress Way.

Tiny Tots Time

Thursdays, 10am to 10:30am.  

Listen to stories, songs and rhymes in this dynamic, interactive and educational storytime. For children from 18 months of age. No bookings required. 

Sessions start Thursday, 27 February 2020.

Curious Kids

Explore science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics through engaging hands on activities. For children from 4 to 7 years of age.​

Learning English Through Story Time (LETS)

Tuesdays, during workshops dates
 9:30am to 10:30am or 11am to 12noon

A series of English as a second language workshops run during school terms for newly settled parents/grandparents and their children. Families are encouraged to learn English through songs, rhymes and interactive activities. For children 2 to 4 years of age and their carers.​

LEGO Club

LEGO Club is a social, play based group for children. Join us for an exciting session of building and creating using LEGO.

Second Wednesday of each month, 4:00pm to 5:00pm.

Cre8, Celebr8 and Investig8 with prizes, games, craft and pop up books. make new friends, see new and unusual books and receive prizes for reading throughout the month.
