Super Sidekicks: A Cartoon Adventure with Gavin Aung Than

Iron Man? Spider-Man? Forget them, it's time to meet Australia's own superheroes! Cartoonist and New York Times bestselling local author Gavin Aung Than introduces you to the SUPER SIDEKICKS, his new middle-grade graphic novel series. He'll tell you all about his new books, teach you how to draw his characters and take you behind-the-scenes to show you how he makes a graphic novel! To participate children will require a device with internet access and access to Zoom. For children 7 to 12 years.

Manga Drawing Workshop with Debora Gregorio
Tuesday 25 August 2020
4pm to 5:30pm

Debora Gregorio is a talented manga artist who has been studying art since she was a teenager. This workshop is perfect for beginners, focusing on drawing faces and hands in the classic manga style. Learn to draw anime faces from different angles and receive a basic introduction to the tricky art of drawing hands. To participate you will require a device with internet access and access to Zoom.

​Stacks of Fun with Beanstack - July to December 2020

For children from birth to 5 years. 

Having trouble finding or choosing home activities for your little one? The Library team has curated an all-new collection of literacy-based activities for you to use at home - we have even supplied some famous presenters!

Sign up for the Beanstack program Stacks of Fun for a ready-made series of online storytimes, home activities, craft and games to spark curiosity and a love of literature. We have done all the work for you – all you’ll need to do is play!

As an added bonus, each activity completed gives you a chance to win a $25 book voucher from QBE Books.

​Hop To It - Leap into Reading and Activities at Home - July to December 2020
For children from 5 to 10 years. 

Are you looking for a way to encourage your children to read at home? Your library has an online reader reward program which turns books read into online badges earned. For every ten books read children will collect an online badge. They can also earn badges for completing all-new online activities!

Each badge earns a ticket into a prize draw to win a $50 QBE book voucher. The lucky winner will be notified in December.

Curious Kids Online

Curious Kids is coming to your house! Join Miss Leonie as she experiments with all kinds of cool science concepts using everyday objects

Lego Club Online: Game On!

For children 5 to 12 years.  

When you can't come to Lego Club -  Lego Club will come to you! Can you build a Lego fidget spinner or target game? Find instructions, links to tutorials and six new Lego challenges from your library team. You can download the challenges here. For those interested in rockets and space, try out our Lift Off challenges here.

Free Science Workshops Online - National Science Week


You may remember Dr Rina Fu from her visits and workshops to the Ruth Faulkner Library. 

As part of the government's 'Inspiring Australia' initiative, author and scientist Dr Rina Fu is hosting a series of free live online workshops for toddlers, school children, families and those with special needs.
