The City of Belmont has a significant number of of senior residents, with more than 18% of the population being 60 years of age or over. The City recognises the valuable contribution our seniors make to the rich history, diversity and vibrancy of our community. We aim to provide a safe and inclusive environment, with opportunities to maintain a good quality of life with meaning, purpose and value.

Age-Friendly Belmont Plan and Age-Friendly Advisory Group

The Age-Friendly Belmont Plan provides guidance to the City to ensure it is a place where people can continue to live as they age; feeling valued, respected and actively engaged in their community. The Age-Friendly Advisory Group provides recommendations and feedback on the delivery of the plan.

The City’s Place Making Department offers a range of programs and activities to promote active minds and bodies through the Ruth Faulkner Public Library and Healthy Communities teams.

​Independent Living Units

The City of Belmont’s four Independent Living Unit complexes are managed by Southern Cross Care (WA) Inc and are available to eligible applicants over 55 years of age.
