 Decision Making Structure

The City of Belmont has a decision making process that has been identified as best practice in Western Australian Local Government. Meetings are held on Tuesday evenings from February to December. The monthly meeting cycle commences with the Information Forum  on the second Tuesday, the Agenda Briefing Forum  on the third Tuesday and the Ordinary Council Meeting  on the fourth Tuesday (note, all meetings are moved forward a week in December and in other months if required).

The City holds an Annual Electors Meeting in December. Special Electors Meetings can be called at any time; however, as prescribed by Regulations, 100 electors or 5% of the number of electors in the City of Belmont are required to request a special meeting be held. To request a Special Electors’ Meeting, please complete the Request for a Special Meeting of Electors Form  and submit it via email to belmont@belmont.wa.gov.au

The City also has four Standing Committees which meet as required. Committee meetings are closed to members of the public. The minutes of Standing Committee meetings are available for public viewing following the meeting.
