 System Certification and Quality Assurance

The City of Belmont aims to provide quality products and services and has been internationally certified in the areas of Quality Assurance, Environmental Management and Occupational Safety and Health at its facilities in the Administration Civic Centre, Library, Museum, Operations Centre and Harman Park Community Centre.

External accreditation body, SGS System Certification has certified that these facilities meet the requirements of the International Organisation’s Standard ISO 9001 for Quality, ISO 14001 for Environment and AS4801 for Safety.

SGS is one of the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification companies. For more information on SGS, please visit the SGS Website.

The certifications assist the City in increased productivity, reduced waste, less rework and continual improvement.

Quality Assurance

The City's Quality certification means that core processes are recognised internationally as being quality assured. The Quality Management System is based on eight principles including:

  • customer focus
  • leadership
  • involvement of people
  • process approach
  • system approach to management
  • continuous improvement
  • factual approach to decision making; and mutually beneficial supplier relationships

The City sought Certification to ensure that its processes achieve the right outcomes for the community and to improve consistency in these outcomes.

Occupational Safety and Health

The Safety Certification demonstrates the City's continued commitment to strengthening our safety culture and integrating occupational health & safety into all aspects of the organisation.

We do this by incorporating continuous improvement philosophy, leadership and consultation with all staff and stakeholders, and by maintaining the highest standards to protect the wellbeing of our people.

Environment

The environmental certification demonstrates that the City aims to control the impact that its activities, products and services have on the environment.
