A draft four year plan addressing Physical Activity and Nutrition has recently been developed by the City of Belmont to improve local access to physical activity opportunities and healthy foods for the Belmont Community.
The Plan includes a range of local community based strategies to encourage involvement in physical activity and healthy eating initiatives. The City is hopeful that these activities will:
• Facilitate sustainable living by promoting active transport options;
• Provide a healthier and more aware community;
• Encourage a safer community as residents get to know each other;
• Promote a more vibrant community as people get out and about; and
• Establish new partnerships within the community to overcome barriers to being active or accessing healthy foods.
Before adopting the draft plan, the City seeks input and comment from the community.
