 Playgrounds

Our playgrounds cater for different age brackets (below 2 year, 2 to 5 years, 5 to 8 years and 8 to 12 years) and incorporate different methods of play according to the child’s stage of development, for example climbing, swinging and sand play. The City of Belmont currently has 48 playgrounds within its parks and reserves. Some of our more popular playgrounds are;

  • Faulkner Park Playground
  • Garvey Park Ardara Equipment
  • Tomato Lake Space Net
  • Adachi Park Junior Playground
  • Peet Park Microspider
  • Peachey Park Adventure Bike Track

Faulkner Park Feature Playground
Faulkner Park Feature Playground was completed in March 2007. The playground is close to the Belmont Oasis Leisure Centre providing access to toilets and a café. It is opposite the police station, surrounded by the Faulkner Park lake network, adjacent to the library and the City’s Civic Centre and across the road from the Belmont Forum Shopping Centre.

The playground has a number of barbecues, benches, picnic tables and shade sails available. The park is fully enclosed with pool latches so parents can be safe in the knowledge their children can play in a contained environment.

This playground caters for all of the family and incorporates numerous methods of play including water play, flying play, sand play, theme play and a toddler playground.

The theme is a ruined village and it has a central volcano. A footpath spirals to the top of the volcano with optional slides to get down. Mist emerges from the top of the volcano simulating smoke/lava. Foggers are placed amongst the palms and stepping stones that the children can run through. There are four jumping jewels which are a ball of water shot out from the ground that the kids try to catch.  All water elements occur randomly, some kids even stand waiting for it to happen.

Flying play
The cableway is a favourite. It is a flying fox with disabled access ramp which swings the kids across the area and catapults them back at the other end. There are two sets of swings for junior and senior children.

Sandplay
There is a sand pit area under shade with two sand tables.  There are two backhoe sand excavators for the kids to sit on.

Theme Play
There is a ship wreck and 3D animals such as crocodiles, sharks and turtles coming out of the softfall for the kids to play on.
There are totem poles, big Easter island tribal heads and the footpath has horse shoe marks pressed into the concrete.

Toddlers Playground
Completed in March 2007 the toddlers playground is all under shade and contains many units for toddlers to play on from including Spica, Spinning bowl, Cubbyhouse, Ship with water-ski, binoculars, megaphones and mini slide.

Faulkner Park is an extremely popular playground.  It is used by the City’s residents as well as residents from up to 200 kilometres away.  Bookings for the playground bbq’s are not required as the City cannot provide exclusive access as it is a public park.

Faulkner Park Skate Park
Faulkner Park Skate Park is located on the corner of Alexander and Abernethy Road Cloverdale.  The Skate Park has a half pipe linked by an eight foot spine to a quarter pipe, grind rails and roll-ins and is suitable for bikes, scooters, rollerblades and skateboards. The Skate Park has turfed area, gazebos and trees for shade.
