Owning a swimming pool or spa can provide plenty of family fun, but as many pool owners know, a pool comes with a lot of responsibility including ensuring safety, maintaining water quality and cleanliness.
A large part of owning a pool involves ensuring the safety of the pool and the people who use or come into contact with it.
There are a number of laws relating to swimming pools, spas and safety barriers. The City’s Building Department carries out inspections of safety barriers and gates at intervals of no more than four years. Please visit the Building Commission website and Royal Life Saving Society website to view up to date information regarding safety barrier compliance.
