Current Construction Works within DA6
Associated with the State Government's Forrestfield Airport Link
Redcliffe Train Station
The State Government is continuing work on the construction of the Forrestfield Airport Link which includes the construction of a passenger rail station in Redcliffe. Whilst this project was aimed for completion August 2020, the State Government recently announced that the project will be delayed until the second half of 2021.
Brearley Avenue Closure
On 7 October 2018 Brearley Avenue was permanently closed to traffic at Great Eastern Highway in Redcliffe. The decommissioning of Brearley Avenue by Main Roads WA presents an opportunity to reconnect the residential streets to provide an improved, appealing, walkable, robust and more connected movement network. The Vision Plan for DA6 proposes that the redundant road reserve land will be converted into areas of public open space and development sites, the exact configuration of which will be determined by the Activity Centre Plan.
Works to modify the intersection of Great Eastern Highway and Tonkin Highway southbound were completed last year and the redundant sections of Brearley Avenue, from Great Eastern Highway to First Street, have been prepared for landscaping, which will be undertaken by the City. Modifications to the street lighting and provision of new path lighting along Brearley Avenue will be undertaken in the first half of 2019.
