 Underground Power

Underground Power not only makes a streetscape more attractive, it also allows for improved continuity of supply and a safer environment in our neighbourhoods. All new subdivisions and developments in the City must have underground power.

Existing suburbs are usually upgraded with underground power as and when Western Power determines it is necessary or through State Government initiatives such as the State Underground Power Program (SUPP).

Grant Applications for the SUPP have usually been opened every 3-4 years and although the City supports the concept of undergrounding power lines, the City will in future, only make applications for funding for projects where there is minimal economic impact to the community and there is an equitable allocation of funds from the State Government.
