Put your bin out
To make sure your bins get emptied, please follow these simple steps:
- Put your bin(s) out by 6am on the day of collection;
- If both bins are out, make sure there is at least half a metre between them;
- Check for overhead power lines, trees or other objects that may block the truck from accessing your bins;
- Make sure your bin is not overflowing and that the lid is properly closed;
- Make sure your bin is not too heavy – if it weighs over 70kg it will not be collected;
- If it looks like your bin has not been emptied, please wait until 3pm to phone the City’s contractor Veolia on 9350 7182 to arrange for collection;
- Bins should be retrieved, at the latest, by the evening on the day of servicing;
- Make sure you follow the rules for what can be put into each bin.
Missing or damaged bins
If your bin is missing or damaged, contact Veolia on 9350 7182 or at belmont.anz@veolia.com to arrange a replacement or repairs.

What goes in each bin?
For households with a
three bin FOGO service, waste, recycling and FOGO bins have different coloured lids:
- Red lid for waste;
- Lime green lid for food organics and garden organics (FOGO);
- Yellow lid for recycling.
If you are not sure whether you can recycle or dispose of something in your bin, please refer to the
Recycle Right guidelines or read the
