Public open space
At the moment, the public open space network in Development Area 6 (DA6) includes several ‘pocket parks’ surrounding the former Brearley Avenue road reserve. The draft Activity Centre Plan proposes to reconfigure the existing public open space network into the following corridors.
The existing public open space provision will change from 3.614 hectares to 3.6623 hectares. This represents an increase of 484m², which represents 8.72% of subdivisible land within the precinct.
Public Open Space Corridor (POS 1, POS 2 and POS 3)
The former Brearley Avenue road reserve will be transformed into the Public Open Space Corridor (POS 1, POS 2 and POS 3) linking Great Eastern Highway with Redcliffe Train Station. It will cover a total area of 2.35 hectares and incorporate a realigned Southern Main Drain and a range of recreational spaces.
Station Plaza (POS 4)
This will include land immediately surrounding Redcliffe Train Station, which will be developed as a plaza space to encourage high levels of activity centre pedestrian use.
Linear Woodland Green Link (POS 5)
The Linear Woodland Green (POS 5) will be created from surplus Tonkin Highway road reserve. This will be designed as a pedestrian and cyclist link between Victoria Street North and Stanton Road, next to Redcliffe Primary School.
Other public open spaces
As outlined in the draft Activity Centre Plan, there could be other opportunities for public open space within the DA6 precinct, including the shared use of the Redcliffe Primary School oval and land within Perth Airport estate.

The Southern Main Drain is an open-channel regional drain which carries water from Kalamunda to the Swan River. It sits next to Brearley Avenue between Kanowna Avenue East and Central Avenue.
It is proposed that this drain be realigned and reconfigured into a living urban stream, as part of a central area of public open space.
