City of Belmont celebrates six month milestone for Belmont Hub

April marks the six month anniversary of the opening of Belmont Hub – the City of Belmont’s community centre.

Opened on 12 October 2020, the visually striking Belmont Hub, with architectural features not seen before in Western Australia, has become a landmark in the civic heart of the Faulkner Park Civic Precinct.

Belmont Hub is also a highly functional, multi-purpose and cross-generational centre that is enhancing the local community by providing and integrating a wide range of services and activities.

The building features Ruth Faulkner Library over two levels, a digital hub and multimedia recording studio, film screening room, seniors hub, state-of-the-art Belmont Museum, demonstration kitchen, office space for community service organisation providers on the second floor, and much more.

Ruth Faulkner Library was recently awarded ‘Highly Commended’ in the Public Libraries Category of the 2021 Australian Library Design Awards which recognises some of the best new library designs in Australia. Ruth Faulkner Library was the only Western Australian library to be recognised.

Within the first month of opening, more than 22,655 people visited Belmont Hub. Belmont Hub’s popularity has continued with a 57% increase in monthly average visitors over the past six months, along with a 67% monthly average increase in membership over the past six months.

To celebrate the six month milestone, the first 100 people to sign up for membership during April to Ruth Faulkner Library will receive a special tote gift bag.

The City also recently welcomed its first tenant to the second floor of Belmont Hub which has been purpose built for community service providers.

The second floor has dedicated and flexible office space which includes multiple communal breakout spaces, four meeting rooms, digital concierge system, crèche and communal waiting and reception area.

City of Belmont Chief Executive Officer John Christie said Belmont Hub continues to achieve milestones since it opened.

“Belmont Hub has become a ‘one stop shop’ for our community and beyond to learn, discover, experience and engage,” Mr Christie said.

The City’s existing Civic Centre continues to house the administration offices, rates enquiries, and cashier.

Belmont Hub is located at 213 Wright Street, Cloverdale, Western Australia.
