City of Belmont welcomes first community service organisation tenant to Belmont Hub

The City of Belmont has welcomed its first community service organisation tenant to the second floor of its new community centre Belmont Hub.

City of Belmont Chief Executive Officer John Christie said welcoming Valued Lives as the first tenant to Belmont Hub was another achievement for Belmont Hub.

“This is another significant milestone in the progress of Belmont Hub and the delivery of the City’s vision for this community building,” Mr Christie said.

“It is wonderful to welcome our first tenant to the second floor of Belmont Hub which was designed specifically for community service organisations, thanks to funding received through Lotterywest,” Mr Christie said.

“When we started out on our search for a new central office; accessibility, location and the opportunity to connect and work alongside other community organisations were high on our list of priorities. Belmont Hub, ticks all of those boxes, plus many more,” according to Valued Lives Foundation Chief Executive Officer Bronia Holyoak.

“We particularly love having the state-of-the-art Ruth Faulkner Library and the accessible adult change facility (based on Changing Places design and in the process of accreditation) located on the ground floor, as well as proximity to the new Belmont Museum. All excellent facilities to have so close by,” she said.

“Valued Lives is delighted to be the first tenant in the community organisation office space at Belmont Hub and our team is very much looking forward to meeting and liaising with other organisations over the coming months.”

“I’d like to thank the City of Belmont for having the courage to create a bold vision for Belmont Hub, the design of the building is absolutely amazing and we are very pleased to be able to call this our new home.”

The second floor of Belmont Hub has dedicated and flexible office space for community service providers, which includes multiple communal breakout spaces, four meeting rooms, digital concierge system, crèche and communal waiting and reception area.

Valued Lives provide individualised, tailored, and flexible community-based support to people who are vulnerable, their families and supporters, who want to live typical lives in their communities.

A peer-led community organisation, Valued Lives has a commitment to promoting social inclusion and empowering vulnerable people to have real choice, real control and a genuine voice in the design, planning and delivery of their own supports and services.

Valued Lives are registered to provide support and services through the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) and Department of Communities (Disability Services) Western Australia. They are a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC).

Opened in late October 2020, the City of Belmont’s visually stunning Belmont Hub, with architectural features not seen before in Western Australia, has become a landmark in the civic heart of the City - Faulkner Park Civic Precinct.

It’s also a highly functional, multi-purpose and cross-generational centre that is already enhancing the local community by providing and integrating a wide range of services and activities.

The building features Ruth Faulkner Library over two levels, a digital hub and multimedia recording studio, film screening room, seniors hub, state-of-the-art Belmont Museum, demonstration kitchen, office space for community service organisation providers on the second floor, and much more.

The City’s existing Civic Centre continues to house the administration offices, rates enquiries, and cashier.
