Entries now open for City of Belmont Art Awards

Entries are currently open for the City of Belmont Art Awards.

The City of Belmont is pleased to announce that Perth Airport will be the Premier Partner for the City of Belmont Art Awards in 2021.

The Art Awards are an opportunity for all Western Australian based artists to showcase their art as part of a free two week public exhibition.

“The City of Belmont Art Awards is another way the City aims to support new and emerging artists in the local community,” City of Belmont Mayor Cr Phil Marks said.

Artists from all mediums are encouraged to take part by submitting drawings and paintings, as well as sculpture, textiles and new media (film, installation art).

A judging panel will select the winners for each award inclusive of a $10,000 acquisitive award, sponsored by Perth Airport.

“The revival of the City of Belmont Art Awards is great news for both local Belmont artists, as well as the wider WA art community,” Perth Airport Chief Executive Officer Kevin Brown said.

“As the principal sponsor of the awards we are looking forward to seeing the creativity and talent that will be unearthed,” Mr Brown said.

The City is also pleased to announce that Belmont Forum is the Youth Partner for the Art Awards sponsoring the Emerging Artist and Youth Award, along with Community Newspapers as its media partner.

All entries should be submitted through the City’s Art Awards webpage and will be accepted until Friday, 30 April 2021.

For more information contact the City’s Placemaking team by emailing placemaking@belmont.wa.gov.au or phone 9477 7409.

The Art Awards exhibition will be held at The Glasshouse (the City’s former Library building) at 215 Wright Street, Cloverdale from Saturday, 12 June, 2021 until Friday, 25 June 2021.
