City of Belmont Launches Enhanced Ranger Service

The City of Belmont is in the process of launching its enhanced Ranger service.

After reviewing both Ranger and Community Safety services, the City has employed more Rangers, extended their operating hours, and are upgrading their mobile equipment and vehicles.

We are thrilled to be launching our enhanced Ranger service, said CEO John Christie

“This is the culmination an extensive review and restructure of our Ranger and Community Safety services.”

The City undertook a full review of these services. Statistical analysis and feedback from the community showed a clear need to enhance service provision and increase Ranger availability.

“Residents have told us they want their Rangers to be more available outside of office hours, so we’ve extended their operating hours. During summer, Rangers will be available from 6am to 9pm every day, including weekends and public holidays.

“We have also extended their winter operating hours until 8pm,” said Mr Christie.

The enhanced service will see the Ranger fleet vehicles upgraded with GPS, CCTV, and mobile technology, as well as modules to cater for more impounded dogs, cats and equipment. The vehicles will also be far more recognisable with pronounced decaling.

“The new Ranger vehicles are a real game changer. The new technology in the vehicles will mean our Rangers can respond to residents’ enquiries faster than ever before, and they’ll be able to spend more time out and about in the community,” said Mr Christie.

“We’ve added several highly experienced Rangers to our team, and they’re all very approachable, personable people”

Senior Ranger Kylie Smyth says “If you see one of our Rangers, say hello.”

The City of Belmont Rangers deal with a variety of issues, including cat and dog control, parking, bush fire control, and more.
