Speaker Series

Belmont Library and Museum's Speaker Series hosts a diverse array of engaging speakers - historians, authors, scientists, artists, community leaders, musicians, spiritual seekers and academics - to share their knowledge, stories and skills with our community.

Belmont Interest Group
For adults
First Friday of each month, 2:30pm to 4:30pm
(If the first Friday is a public holiday Belmont Interest Group will be held on the second Friday)
This program is held in the Activity Hall, Seniors Hub
Belmont Interest Group (B.I.G.) is for adults of all ages. Relax and enjoy good company while listening to guest speakers and presenters. This program will be followed by a social afternoon tea.

Parenting Matters
For parents and carers of children from birth to 16 years
Explore a range of common parenting matters including toilet training, school readiness, anxiety, special need parenting, connecting with teens and more.

Book Club
For adults and young people 16+
First Wednesday of each month, 1:30pm to 2:30pm
If you are looking for your next great read, here is your chance to discuss and review books of all genres and meet like-minded readers. Explore best-selling authors such as Di Morrisey, David Baldacci and Tana French each month in this diverse and welcoming group.

Community Lab: Board Games
For adults and young people 16+
Wednesdays, 9:30am to 12pm
Welcome to Community Lab! These sessions provide an unstructured, relaxed and independent environment for individuals to engage in board game activities with like-minded peers in a secure setting. This space is open to adults of all ages and abilities, allowing them to enjoy a diverse selection of board games, ranging from traditional favorites like Mah-jong and Scrabble, to more contemporary options such as Unstable Unicorns.

Community Lab: Yarn Crafts
For adults and young people 16+
Tuesdays, 9:30am to 12pm
Welcome to Community Lab! These sessions are an unstructured, self-directed opportunity to craft with like-minded friends in a safe way. A space for adults to chat, knit, crochet and craft with friends – both old and new. You don’t have to be an expert to join in. This is a judgement free zone! However, you may find yourself inspired by the experienced crafters who attend.
