Daniel O'Connor
Birds will have to feed themselves
Daniel O'Connor is an emerging artist and resident of the City of Belmont. With a background in television production and a graduate of Curtin University's Fine Arts program, Daniel's practice utilises a variety of both digital and physical mediums to explore themes of time, epistemology, and form itself.
The work in this exhibition is a reflection on his experience of Tomato Lake, which he has lived beside and observed for several years. The work resists prescriptive meanings, instead exploring - through documentation of time and tides - the area’s pluralities, being a place that has and continues to have different meanings, purposes, and identities for the numerous and diverse communities it provides for, a place that is both new and old, and a place whose form embodies pluralities itself, of artificiality and the natural in its created lake and rehabilitated reserves existing on traditional Noongar wetlands.
