2026 Local History Photographic Competition

Entries are now open for the 2026 City of Belmont Local History Photographic Competition!

This year, we’re looking for photos that capture the theme “Urban Landscapes,” showcasing the unique character and beauty of the City of Belmont places where people, industry, and the environment come together.

We’re looking for photographs that show how the City of Belmont’s urban spaces are used, shaped, and experienced.

We’re especially interested in photographs that reflect change. Your photograph might feature a factory or business precinct, a construction site transforming the skyline, a local institution, a community event, or a familiar place changing over time. It could be a striking city view, an everyday scene, or a small detail that captures the character of the City of Belmont.

While the focus is on urban landscapes, you’re welcome to submit any photograph that reflects life in the City of Belmont. Every image has a story to tell and helps preserve our shared history for future generations.

Enter up to 10 photos via Belmont Connect for the chance to win from a prize pool of over $700!

First place will receive $500, with a themed winner and highly commended scoring $100 each, and the People’s Choice Award winner will receive an amazing hamper.

If you have a collection of photos but aren't sure how to enter them, why not come along to our Snapshots of the Past Morning Tea? From 10:30am to 12pm on Saturday 21 February, join us for a social morning team and get help scanning your photo entries. Register via our website or contact the City.
