2026 Verge Garden Program applications are open!

We are excited to announce the return of our popular Verge Garden Program for 2026, giving residents the opportunity to transform their street verges into vibrant, sustainable gardens.

This initiative is all about creating greener, more attractive streetscapes in our neighbourhoods while supporting local wildlife and conserving water.

Through the program, residents can apply for a free Verge Makeover Starter Kit, which includes everything you need to get started: native plants, mulch, soil conditioner, fertiliser, and a step-by-step guide.

To make sure you feel confident in your gardening journey, the program also includes access to a practical workshop where experts will share tips on planting, maintenance, and creating a thriving verge garden.

Native gardens are not only beautiful and low-maintenance, but they also play a vital role in supporting biodiversity. By planting species suited to our local environment, you can help attract birds, bees, and butterflies, creating a mini ecosystem right outside your home.

Plus, these gardens are waterwise, meaning they require less irrigation than traditional lawns, which is a win for both your water bill and the environment.

Applications are now open, but spots are limited, so don’t wait!

You can apply online via our website or collect a hard-copy application form from the Civic Centre.

Join us in making the City of Belmont greener, more sustainable, and more beautiful, one verge at a time.
