Due to COVID-19 Level 2 health measures, the City has made the decision to cancel this year’s Autumn River Festival event scheduled for 9 April 2022 at Garvey Park, Ascot.
Autumn River Festival is one of the highlights of the City’s free community events schedule that provides a range of fun activities and entertainment including ski shows and free food for City of Belmont residents.
City of Belmont Chief Executive Officer John Christie said that the decision to cancel this event had not been made lightly but was necessary given the uncertainty around when the Level 2 COVID-19 health measures and restrictions surrounding the hosting of large-scale events would be lifted, or possibly extended beyond 31 March 2022.
“The health, safety and wellbeing of our community, staff, and contractors is our highest priority, and in this fast-moving environment the City feels that this is a common-sense decision.” Mr Christie said.
“We understand this will be disappointing for our community who look forward to this event, along with our contractors, event partners and staff who have been working to deliver Autumn River Festival. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”
