City Of Belmont Art Awards Opens For 2022

The 2022 City of Belmont Art Awards is now open for entries.

The City of Belmont Art Awards are a fantastic opportunity for Western Australian artists to showcase their work in a free two-week exhibition to be held in September 2022 at The Glasshouse.

Entries are open to a range of artistic mediums with entrants having the chance to win in one of several categories including the grand prize of $10,000.

More than 300 entries were received for the 2021 City of Belmont Art Awards.

“The City of Belmont Art Awards celebrate the creative talents of people in our local community, as well as in the wider arts community across Western Australia,” City of Belmont Mayor Cr Phil Marks said.

“The City of Belmont Art Awards is another way the City supports new and emerging artists in the local community,” Mayor Marks said.

A judging panel will select the winners for each award inclusive of a $10,000 Overall Award.

Other awards include the Emerging Artist and Youth Award sponsored by the Art Awards Youth Partner, Belmont Forum. Other award sponsors include PerthNow and Artsource.

Entries are open for Western Australian residents aged 11 and up and must be received by the City before the end of the Award Nomination Period on 8 June 2022. Entrants accepted to the awards be contacted in July 2022.

The Art Awards exhibition will be hosted in The Glasshouse, in the heart of the Faulkner Park Civic Precinct (the City's former Ruth Faulkner Library building at 215 Wright Street, Cloverdale) from 3 to 15 September 2022.

Winners will be announced at an invitation only Awards Night on Thursday 15 September 2022.

As part of the Awards, the City is hosting an Artist's Education Program in May which is sponsored by Artsource.

The program assists artists to develop their professional skillset for a successful entry to the City’s Arts Awards and beyond. Workshops part of the program cover industry topics such as how to prepare artwork for exhibition, marketing and pricing of works and navigating legal obligations.

Award entry forms and further details about the education program can be found on the City's Art Awards webpage or by contacting the City's Arts and Place Team on 9477 7409 or arts&place@belmont.wa.gov.au.
