The City of Belmont is inviting the community to step back in time with Rewind, a two-month festival celebrating the people, places and stories that have shaped the city.
Running from Saturday 18 April, Rewind features a diverse program of free and low-cost events for all ages, including creative workshops, talks, exhibitions and hands-on activities.
City of Belmont Mayor Robert Rossi said Rewind is a chance for the community to explore and celebrate the stories that connect local people and places.
“Rewind celebrates the memories, places and stories that locals know and remember, and that have shaped the City of Belmont over time.
“It’s an opportunity for the community to learn something new, reflect on the past, and keep our local history alive,” said Mayor Rossi.
Highlights from this year’s program include Connecting Through Culture, a First Nations community art canvas, From Grassroots to Grandstands, exploring the city’s sporting history with Swan Districts Football Club, and the City’s Local History Photographic Competition, with the community invited to vote for the People’s Choice Award.
As part of the festival, Belmont Museum will also refresh its current exhibition, switching from summer sports to a winter sports edition of Get in the Game, highlighting local netball, football, soccer and rugby.
Many events are free, with bookings required for some sessions.
