The City of Belmont is investing in a safer community with the launch of its new Home and Business Security Incentive Scheme.

The Scheme provides practical support to residents and businesses through free security appraisals, security products and rebates.

City of Belmont Mayor Robert Rossi said the scheme provides practical support to help make homes and businesses more secure.

“Feeling safe at home, at work and in our neighbourhoods is important to all of us.

“Through this scheme, we’re helping residents and businesses identify security risks and access advice and equipment to address them.

“Community safety is a shared responsibility, and we all have a role to play.

“While Council isn’t the police, we’re committed to doing our part. We’ll keep working closely with WA Police and with our community to strengthen safety right across the City of Belmont,” said Mayor Rossi.

Under the scheme, eligible residents, property owners and businesses can apply for a free security appraisal. Depending on the appraisal outcome, eligible applicants may also receive security products valued at up to $850.

Rebates of up to $500 are also available towards approved security products, increasing to $550 for eligible WA Seniors Card holders.

The scheme builds on the City’s existing community safety services, including extensive CCTV monitoring in public areas, 24/7 security patrols, graffiti removal, and community safety education.

The City also works closely with WA Police, community organisations and other agencies on outreach programs and support services, such as the family and domestic violence support program funded by the City, delivered by Ruah Community Services and operating out of the Belmont Police Station.

Applications open on Thursday 1 October.
