City of Belmont plans for the future

The City of Belmont Council has set its sights on the future with the endorsement of the 2025-26 Annual Budget, Corporate Business Plan 2025-2029 and Long-Term Financial Plan at the June Ordinary Council Meeting.

Together, these documents set the direction for the years ahead, guiding priorities, supporting service delivery, and ensuring a strong and sustainable future for the community.

City of Belmont Mayor Robert Rossi shared how these plans will help the local community thrive.

“With the help of our ratepayers, we are able to keep delivering the services and infrastructure that really matter - things like waste collection, our library, community safety programs, improved streetscapes, and local support services.

“These aren’t just line items in a budget - they’re the things that help people feel at home, connected, and proud to be part of a growing City like ours,” said Mayor Rossi.

City of Belmont CEO John Christie discussed the City’s approach to setting this year’s budget.

“We are focused on delivering real value to our residents and ratepayers through careful planning and strong financial management.”

Some of the actions in the City’s Corporate Business Plan include:
  • Adopt and implement the Community Safety Strategy 2025-2030
  • LED lighting upgrades in parks and where City owns lighting infrastructure
  • Progress Peet Park Redevelopment Project
  • Implement Belvidere Streetscape Revitalisation Project
  • Expand the Your Neighbour Grant project to foster community connection
  • Partner with community organisations on programs targeting health, wellbeing, early years and domestic violence
  • Implement the Urban Forest Strategy 2025-2030
  • Progress climate change initiatives
  • Finalise the Local Housing Strategy
  • Facility upgrades for Centenary Park, Gerry Archer Reserve and Redcliffe Community Centre
  • Continue the Community Contribution Fund Program

With a strong planning framework in place, the City is well positioned to build a welcoming, inclusive and thriving community - one that delivers value and opportunity for its residents and ratepayers.
