City of Belmont scores with sports upgrades

The City of Belmont has delivered a major boost to local sport, unveiling newly refurbished changerooms and upgraded amenities at Miles Park in Cloverdale and Centenary Park in Belmont.

These upgrades deliver more welcoming, accessible, and modern facilities for local clubs, families and community members.

City of Belmont Mayor Robert Rossi said the investment reflects the City’s commitment to creating opportunities for all residents to take part in community sports.

“Sport brings people together, and high-quality community facilities make that possible.

“By investing in these spaces, we’re giving residents of all ages and abilities the chance to get active, boost their mental health, build confidence, and feel part of something bigger,” said Mayor Rossi.

The projects are part of the WA Government’s PlayOn WA, an exciting initiative to deliver 2,030 community infrastructure items across WA by 2030.

At Miles Park, the 38‑year‑old changerooms received an over $60,000 transformation, replacing ageing facilities with contemporary, gender-neutral spaces designed to support players of all genders, ages, and abilities. The upgrade was supported by $15,676 from the WA Government’s Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF).

At Centenary Park, the changerooms and amenities also received an over $50,000 upgrade, assisted by $15,853 in CSRFF funding.

The improved facilities provide more functional and accessible spaces to support the reserve’s cricket and rugby clubs, as well as families and visitors using the surrounding parkland.
