Experience the Excitement of Avon Descent

Important Update: The Avon Descent event has been relocated to Faulkner Park. Click here for more information.

Get up close to the action at the Avon Descent 2022! Bring the family to Garvey Park, Fauntleroy Avenue in Ascot on Sunday 14 August from 11am to 3pm to relax and enjoy the race.

Held at one of the City’s premier parks, Garvey Park in Ascot, this free community event is a great way to follow the thrill of the Avon Descent along with free children’s activities and live race commentary. Cheer on competitors as they head towards the finish line of this intense 133km white water race.

Unique to the City of Belmont’s Avon Descent at Garvey Park, scenic helicopter rides will be available on the day. Spectators can get a bird’s eye view of the race and the Swan River.

City of Belmont Mayor Cr Phil Marks encouraged residents to come along to this community event and to enjoy a relaxed afternoon out.

“Come along and encourage the competitors as they go past on the last leg of this gruelling race,” Mayor Marks said.

On the day, a free shuttle bus will be running between the City's Civic Centre (215 Wright Street, Cloverdale) from 10:30am to 3:15pm. The City also encourages residents to TravelSmart by walking or cycling to the event.

Free food and beverage options will be available for City of Belmont residents (while stocks last, and limits apply). Food or drink options will also be available for purchase on the day by residents and non-residents.

This smoke and alcohol free event is proudly brought to you by the City of Belmont - the City of Opportunity.

The City of Belmont is an Official Partner of the 2022 Avon Descent.

Tickets can be booked via Eventbrite.
