We’re gearing up to make this winter planting season one of our biggest greening efforts to date.
The coming months will see our teams plant 3,000 trees and over 55,000 plants as part of our annual planting programs for streetscapes, street trees and environmental restoration.
More than 50 City-managed sites will be receiving planting and landscape upgrades as part of our Streetscape Enhancement Strategy. The program includes verges, medians, roundabouts and cul-de-sacs, with each site carefully designed and transformed with waterwise planting and landscaping.
The streetscape planting program features a combination of infill planting at existing locations, landscape renewals and new major planting sites along key connection routes and community centres. For more information on our
Streetscape Enhancement Strategy,
visit Belmont Connect or contact the City.
Our Street Tree Planting program returns to grow our urban canopy by planting high-quality trees on verges and roadsides. Prioritising vulnerable areas with higher urban heat levels, each street tree has been grown from seed in line with Australian Standards and carefully selected for the environmental conditions and surrounding infrastructure. Street Tree Planting program and City trees,

Winter also sees planting and revegetation projects continue across the 50 hectares of natural area managed by the City. This season, we’ll be installing native plants across five bushland sites, including Garvey Park, Signal Hill and Tomato Lake, plus over 5,000 native brushes in local wetlands.
Each year we invite the community to get involved in environmental restoration with planting days taking place with local schools, businesses and community volunteers in the coming months. For more information on how we manage our
natural areas,

Keep an eye out over the coming weeks as our teams get to work around the City.
