We're lighting up parks and public spaces across the city, to make them more welcoming and accessible for everyone.
Lighting is a clear priority for our community, and while we advocate to Western Power for better street lighting, we're also delivering a range of projects to brighten the spaces we manage.
Each year, we budget for lighting projects through our Capital Works Program.
Current projects include:
- Upgraded sports lighting coming to Middleton Park, Centenary Park, Peet Park and Miles Park
- Solar powered bollard lighting around Tomato Lake
- LED lighting upgrades for all existing parks
- Our Winter Night Lights program, which keeps lights on for longer at four local parks
We also own a small number of streetlights, and are working through our LED replacement program. This will see 84 streetlights in Ascot Waters upgraded by the end of the year.
Lighting is also included in the design of upcoming projects at Faulkner Park, Wilson Park, and Belvidere Street, to make sure our community spaces are well-lit year-round.
