Momentum builds on Belvidere Street as stage 3 works begin

Progress is well underway on the streetscape transformation at the Belvidere Street shopping precinct in Belmont.

Upgrade works are now beginning on stage 3 of the project area, with construction on stage 2 heading towards completion later this month.

The stage 3 upgrades include the road, pathways and shared spaces located between Keymer Street and Somers Street, and will begin with a major upgrade to the Keymer Street roundabout.

This includes the installation of new paving and road treatments, planting, street furniture and extensive electrical and lighting upgrades.

Works on stage 1 began in April, with the upgraded section between Leake Street and Gardiner Street now open to traffic with the new 20km speed limit. The completed portion of stage 2 has been opened to pedestrians while the remainder of works continue across the coming weeks.

Traffic management and detours continue to be in place while works are underway, with road closures surrounding the works area.

Belvidere Street is still open for business while works are underway. Make sure to stop by your favourite spot along the strip to enjoy a coffee, bite to eat, or local service.
