New crossings connecting the City of Belmont
The City of Belmont has opened two new pedestrian crossings on Wright Street and Fulham Street, creating safer and more accessible connections in Cloverdale.
The two new zebra crossings connect Belmont Hub, bus connections and Fulham Street with Belmont Forum. The crossings include pavement markings, advanced warning signs, and improved lighting to enhance visibility and pedestrian safety.
City of Belmont Mayor Robert Rossi said the project was an important step in improving walkability and accessibility in the area.
“This isn’t just about crossings, it’s about people and their everyday lives,” Mayor Rossi said.
“Whether it’s a child walking to school, a parent heading to the library, or an elderly neighbour crossing the street, these upgrades make getting around safer, easier, and more connected for everyone.”
The Wright Street crossing, many years in the making, was delivered in partnership with Main Roads WA, the Public Transport Authority and Western Power.
The City is working with other project partners to activate the new Wright Street Crossing including an RAC Ignite project, being delivered by the Y WA, RAC and will include young people from the City’s youth centre The Base.
“I can’t overstate how proud I am of this project,” Mayor Rossi said.
“It shows what’s possible when we work together. Thanks to our partners, we’ve turned a long-awaited idea into a real, everyday difference for our community. If it helps even one mother, child, or elderly person cross safely, then every step has been worth it.”
The upgrades respond to community feedback and are part of the City’s ongoing work to improve road safety and encourage sustainable transport.
