Programs and Events
We offer a range of partnerships, programs and events throughout the year to build the capacity of, and celebrate our diverse community, including:
- Learning English: Free and friendly sessions to help improve English language skills and confidence in everyday communication. Find out more belmont.wa.gov.au/learnenglish
- Resume Writing & Job Readiness Workshops: Practical support for residents seeking employment or career development. Find out more belmont.wa.gov.au/mynextjob
- Friendship Groups & Cultural Meetups:
- Women's Friendship Group, Fridays from 9.30am - 12.30pm during school terms at Rivervale Community Centre, Francisco Street, Rivervale. Contact Sabah 0406 618 449.
- Creative & Skills-Based Workshops: Activities such as cooking, art, or craft workshops to build confidence and new skills.
- Handcraft and Connect, Thursdays from 9.30am during school terms at the Belmont Resource Centre, 39 Elizabeth Street, Cloverdale. Contact Rasha 0466 726 783.
- Learn to Drive: Belmont is the home of Edmund Rice Centre's Keys4Life Driver Education Perth-South Program. Funded by Road Safety commission, eligible adults from a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse background, can access free driver education, including support to gain a Learner's Permit and free practical driving lessons. - Family Programs: St Maria Goretti Catholic School in Redcliffe offer Moort Waabiny Multicultural Playgroup. Guided by Playgroup Facilitators the group meets Fridays from 9am - 11am during school terms. For more information email admin@smg.wa.edu.au or call 08 6279 2000.
- Food Safari Program: Celebrating culture and cuisine through food, storytelling, and community connection. If you are a passionate home cook or chef, and are keen to share your culture with the community, we would love to hear from you. - Refugee Week: We mark this week, each year in June, to educate the public about who refugees are, why they have come to Australia and the challenges they face, as well as celebrate the contribution refugees make to our community.

Harmony Festival
This outdoor event is held in March to coincide with Harmony Week, a celebration of multiculturalism in Australia. The festival highlights the wonderful diversity within the City with cultural performances, music, activities and cuisines.
