Free Home Eco Consult
Would you like to reduce your bills and live more sustainably? A limited number of City of Belmont residents can apply for a free Home Eco-Audit to help save electricity, water, gas and reduce waste (valued at $300).
What is involved?
The program is available to a limited number of homes each year. After registering, a sustainability consultant will arrange a time with you to come to your home and conduct a sustainability assessment of your home including:
- Hot water system
- Thermal comfort
- Cooking methods
- Electricity and gas usage
- Water usage
- Food disposal
They will then provide you with practical tips on reducing electricity, water and waste and for any future planned renovations.
If a low-cost opportunity to decrease water, electricity or waste is identified, you may be offered a
free sustainability product such as a throw blanket, soil improver, LED lights or a compost bin to help you get started.
They will then conduct a follow up survey with you a few months later and provide support with setting up bigger purchases if needed.
Audits are conducted before summer and winter so that you can make preparations to keep your home cool in summer and warm in winter.
Sound good?
