Community and business perceptions
The 2021 Community Perceptions Scorecard survey of residents and business owners showed the City of Belmont leading in a number of areas, as well as identifying community priorities.
Benchmarks are calculated from nearly 70 local government councils participating and completing the accredited Community Perceptions Scorecard within the past three years.
The City’s overall performance index score is 70 out of 100 – three points above the industry average for Western Australia.
The survey shows a 95 per cent positive rating for residents satisfied with the City of Belmont as a place to live, and a 91 per cent positive rating for residents satisfied in the City as a governing organisation.
The City of Belmont is also an industry leader in value for money from Council rates achieving an 85 per cent positive rating.
The City of Belmont was identified as an industry leader in six community areas including:
- Governing organisation
- Value for money from Council rates;
- Youth services and facilities;
- Families and children services;
- Disability access and inclusion;
- Volunteer support and recognition.
The City of Belmont was identified as an industry leader in 10 business areas including:
- Place to work and operate a business;
- Value for money from rates;
- Planning and building approvals;
- Parking in commercial areas.
Highest scoring areas included Belmont Hub, library services and playgrounds, parks and reserves. With areas noting the most improvement included history and heritage, animal management, youth services and facilities, and families and children services.
