Belmonsters
Have you spotted a Belmonster?
These friendly monsters can be found hiding across the City of Belmont, from Volcano Playground, Belmont Oasis to Adachi Park!
Where did the Belmonsters come from?
In 2016, the City launched its first children’s book - The Adventures of the Belmonsters. As part of development for the book, the Belmonsters characters were created in a community project.
Involving 14 local residents, the project aimed to create opportunities that engage the community in the arts and literacy. Under the guidance of professional author Bailey Bosch and illustrator Cameron Aitkenhead, participants worked together over a series of 10 workshops to bring a shared idea to reality for this unique collaborative project. The work of the participants was then handed over to Bailey and Cameron to give it a final polish before publishing.
Since the release of the first book, the Belmonsters universe has grown with children’s resources including a memory game, educational videos, and maps developed over the years.
