Little street libraries
The City of Belmont supports the installation of free ‘little libraries’ to encourage an interest in reading by making books more available in different areas of the community.
A little library is a simple book swap concept – you are welcome to stop by and collect a book or two, and just need to replace the ones you take with other books.
Across the City of Belmont, little libraries are being installed in parks, outside homes, near schools and childcare centres.
The City is lucky to have support from the Belmont Men's Shed volunteers who build, construct and maintain the Little Libraries you see around the community.
The following guidelines aim to clarify the scenarios for little libraries situated on public land and those on private land. If you would like to install a little library, please read the following
guidelines.
