Preliminary planning advice
If you have a preliminary planning concept that you would like to receive feedback on, you can apply for written advice from the City of Belmont.
Applying for advice could help you identify any issues which may need to be addressed and give you an indication of whether your proposal is likely to be supported, before you lodge a formal development application.
Please note, you need to pay a fee for this service and this service is not designed to fast-track the development application process.
How to apply for preliminary planning advice
If you would like preliminary advice or feedback on a proposed development, you will need to submit:
Please provide as much detail as possible so the Planning team can properly assess your proposal and give practical feedback.
Once you have submitted these documents and paid the fee, a Planning Officer will assess your request and refer it to an internal Development Control Group (DCG) meeting for comments. This group consists of representatives from the City's Planning, Building, Health, Business, Parks, Environment and Engineering teams.
The Planning Officer will then share the DCG assessment and any other feedback with you in writing.
