Animal registration
In WA, all dogs over the age of three months and all cats over the age of six months must be registered with the local government where you reside.
You can register your pet with the City of Belmont for one or three years, expiring on 31 October of the respective year or you also have the option of a lifetime registration.

Registering your dog
To register your dog, you will need to provide proof of microchipping.
To prevent your dog contributing to the increasing population of unwanted dogs and puppies in Perth's pounds and shelters, we encourage you to have your dog sterilised.
Registering Your Cat
In WA, all cats over the age of 6 months must be sterilised, micro-chipped and registered.
To apply for registration in the City of Belmont, you need to provide proof of sterilisation and micro-chipping.
PetsWA centralised registration system
From the 7 October 2024 the City is required to share details concerning dog and cat registrations with the Department of Local Government, Sports and Cultural Industries.
The information that the City is required to provide to the Department includes, but is not limited to:
- owner information, such as names and addresses, listed on animal registrations.
- any information on attacks
- applications from breeders
- infringement details
- pet details
- seizure notifications
