Community Safety Taskforce and Alliance
The City of Belmont has created a Community Safety Taskforce and Community Safety Alliance with the aim of improving community safety within the City.

Community Safety Taskforce
The City of Belmont Community Safety Taskforce is a strategic multi-agency partnership where members at a local level share a collective commitment to improving community safety within the City.
The primary purpose of the City of Belmont Community Safety Taskforce is to examine community safety issues which are specific to the City of Belmont, oversee the implementation and review of the City’s Community Safety Strategy and respond to emerging safety issues impacting on the City of Belmont community.
City of Belmont Community Safety Taskforce members are:
- WA Police (including the Superintendent of the Cannington District Office, Belmont Police OIC and Community Engagement Division)
- Department of Communities (Housing)
- Belmont City College
- Belmont Forum Shopping Centre
- YMCA – staff from The Base@Belmont
- City of Belmont officers from various departments
- University of Western Australia
Some of the City of Belmont Community Safety Taskforce Objectives are:
- Identify and examine community safety trends and issues;
- To monitor the implementation of the Community Safety Strategy;
- Information sharing;
- Leadership, advocacy and co-ordinated effort.
Community Safety Alliance
Complementary to the Community Safety Taskforce is the community group called the Community Safety Alliance.
The Alliance comprises of elected members and community representatives who act as the conduit to the community and play an important role in sharing statistics, facts and information and positive initiatives undertaken by the taskforce.
