The City of Belmont has a responsibility to monitor and ensure compliance with the requirements of the
Bush Fires Act 1954.
Fire season within the City of Belmont runs from 1 December to 31 March the following year. During this period there are restrictions and requirements placed upon residents, landowners and visitors to reduce the risk of fire as much as possible.
Fire Break Notice
The City publishes a Fire Break Notice each year to help regulate and manage fire-related matters. It is recommended that you read through the notice each year.

Do not burn off green waste or other materials
The City’s
Health Local Law does not permit the burning off of any type of materials within the City of Belmont at any time. If you need to dispose of unwanted materials or green waste, please phone the City’s waste disposal provider, SUEZ on 9350 7182 to
request a bulk bin.
You can help to keep the City safe
During the bushfire season between 1 December and 31 March each year, the City does not permit any fires in the open air to be lit within the City of Belmont.
Please do not use fire pits, campfires, any open-air fire, wood-fired pizza ovens, solid fuel BBQs or any equipment or activity which could start a fire, such as welding, during bushfire season.
