Local Government Ordinary Elections are held every two years on the third Saturday in October. At each election, half of the City of Belmont Councillors are elected for terms of four years. The Mayor of the City of Belmont is elected by the electors and commenced from the 2023 local government elections. The change in method of election of the Mayor was resolved by Council at the Ordinary Council Meeting held on 25 October 2022 as part of the request from the Minister of Local Government to align with the proposed local government reforms.
