Code of conduct
The City of Belmont Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behaviour that Employees, Councillors, Committee members and candidates running for election need to follow in relation to their conduct. In summary:
- Councillors are responsible for the performance of their local government and need to demonstrate professional and ethical behaviour to build and strengthen trust within their community;
- A person who has nominated to be a Councillor also needs to demonstrate professional and ethical behaviour during their election campaign;
- In addition to carrying out the duties outlined in the Local Government Act 1995, Councillors and Committee members need to comply with this Code of Conduct in carrying out their functions as public officials;
- Employees, Councillors, Committee members and candidates are responsible for making sure they are familiar with, and comply with, this Code at all times.
The principles outlined in the Code of Conduct define how employees and members will interact with one another, other team members within the City, members of the community and any other external stakeholders.
