City of Belmont's Ruth Faulkner Library reopens

The City of Belmont’s Ruth Faulkner Library reopened its doors on Monday 18 May in response to COVID-19 Phase Two of eased restrictions coming into effect.

Ruth Faulkner Library is open limited to 20 patrons at a time, and visits requested to be limited to less than half an hour. Physical distancing and health hygiene measures are in place for the safety of patrons and staff.

All library items will be disinfected where possible and quarantined for 48 hours before being returned to the Library collection for borrowing.

The new opening hours for the Library will be Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm.

A Click and Collect service is available. Patrons can use the Library’s online catalogue to place holds on up to 10 items. The Library will notify patrons when items are ready for collection.

A Collection Point has been created on the Faulkner Park side of the Library to allow for pre-arranged collection services.

Access to public computers is limited due to physical distancing restrictions with a maximum time limit of 30 minutes per user. Computers will be allocated on a first come, first served basis with no bookings available.

Access to public Wi-Fi is freely accessible from the Faulkner Park side of the Library As the number of people in the Library is limited to 20, free Wi-Fi can be accessed on the grassed area outside for people while practicing appropriate physical distancing.

A mobile print service is available to use via personal computers or mobile devices to print to the library's printers.

Documents can be submitted for printing and arranged for collection from the Collection Point on the Faulkner Park side of the building. The Library will only be accepting tap and go/paywave contactless payments. No cash will be accepted.

Due dates for all library items currently on loan have been extended until Tuesday, 30 June 2020 and do not need to be returned until then. However, borrowing limits of 15 items and a three week loan period will be reinstated from Monday 18 May 2020. If a library card is full, items will need to be returned before borrowing again.

Through this challenging time the Library has continued to come up with innovative ways to provide its services to the local community.

Library programs for adults and children will continue to be only available in an online format from the City of Belmont’s YouTube channel, website and social media.

The Library’s after hours chute is available for use outside of library hours for returns.
